Ulica Poznańska to jedna z najważniejszych historycznych arterii Bydgoszczy, nad którą królowała Brama Poznańska, stanowiąca część murów obronnych miasta. To tutaj od XVI do XIX wieku znajdował się kościół szpitalny św. Krzyża, pełniący funkcję przytułku dla chorych i ubogich.
